Sennheiser Hd 280 Pro Review: Best Headphones For Binaural Beats Focus

I spaced out again. I just wasted forty-five minutes on YouTube and Facebook. I don’t know how It started. I told myself I would sit down and focus on writing another article. Than I thought to myself I needed some music, some background noise. I go to YouTube and start playing 4AM by Kaskade. The beat is as amazing as always and the female vocals just takes me away. There’s just something about this song that makes you let go.

I can’t help but sing along:

“And I say
There’s a way, there’s a way I know
There’s a way, there’s a way I know
There’s a way, there’s a way
I know that someday we will surely find it
There’s a way, there’s a way I know
There’s a way, there’s a way I know
Someday, there’s a way
Someday, there’s a way I know it”

As the song ends almost like a reflex I go and check my Facebook. I realized this is something I tend to do often. I listen to YouTube music and check my Facebook. Now my thoughts start to drift away and I start to think about my life and all the random people. It’s like I have a scattered brain. Maybe I have ADHD. I just can’t seem to focus or concentrate when I need to sit down and work, which means writing.

I don’t think I’m the only one.

There’s been a 42% increase in ADHD diagnoses over the past eight years. Today 4% of American adults over the age of 18 deal with ADHD on a daily basis. During their lifetime, 12.9% of men and 4.9% of women will be diagnose with ADHD.

People say the rise in technology is too blame, and I agree. There’s just too many distractions. The internet is the biggest distraction of all. You can waste your whole day on Reddit and not blink an eye.

I just need to focus. That’s why I put on music to focus. The problem is that the music I listen to isn’t meant to help you focus. The music is for entertainment. To focus I needed to listen to something different. I needed to listen to Binaural Beats.

What Are Binaural Beats?

In 1839 Physicists Heinrich Wilhelm Dove discovered Binaural Beats. He found out what happens when a person listens to two different sound waves in their right and left ear. At the same time!

The listener is able to hear a third tone.

For example if you’re listening to a frequency of 120 Hz in your right ear and a frequency of 110 Hz in your left ear. Your brain “hears” a third frequency of 10 Hz. That’s the difference between the two frequencies. That’s the Binaural Beat.

According to research listening to a Binaural Beat causes the brain to resonate in tune with the beat. When your brain resonates with the Binaural Beat, it has an effect. The effect is called Frequency Following Response. You can use this technique to guide your mind into any state, depending on what you’re listening to.

Binaural Beats allows you to have powerful states. these are powerful states of focused concentration, deep relaxation, and more. This is all done by introducing a layered blend of frequencies through audio.

What Are Binaural Beats Used For?

  • Sleep

  • Meditation

  • Relaxation

  • Focus

Where Can I Listen To Binaural Beats?

If you haven’t noticed the best place to listen to Binaural Beats is YouTube. There are even channels dedicated to just playing Binaural Beats. Go explore and have fun listening.

Proper Headphones For Binaural Beats

Listening to Binaural Beats you need good headphones. There’s a lot of debate on what the best headphones for Binaural Beats are. You just need to keep two things in mind when choosing headphones. You don’t want headphones that lets sound escape from your ears. You don’t want headphones that can’t play at a high frequency.

I ended up choosing the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Headphones.

One thing you’ll notice about the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro are the soft ear pads. The soft ear pads are not only comfortable but noise cancelling as well. The last thing you won’t to hear is a distracting noise while you’re in the zone.

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro has a frequency of 8-25000 Hz. To listen to Binaural Beats you need headphones with a frequency response of 20-20000 Hz. Binaural Beats work by layering the sound waves on top of each other in a rapid frequency.

How Do These Headphones Sound?

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Headphones Are Adjustable To Fit Any Size Head

Regular music sounds clear and the base isn’t too heavy for exaggerated effects. What’s amazing is that you only need to increase the volume less than halfway. You get noise cancellation.

Sennheiser HD 280, Binaural Beats, And Intense Focus

This is my favorite Binaural Beat. This is what I listen too for intense focus and to get in the zone.

You have work to do. I have work to do. No distractions you need to focus. Put on your Sennheiser headphones. Feel the soft ear pads as it gently cups around your ears. Headphones feel tight around your head so you adjust the size to fit just right. Press play and turn up the music until all you hear is the synchronizing beat playing over and over again. Two different sound waves playing in your right and left ear at the same time. This is where the magic happens.

DON’T pay attention to the Binaural Beat, don’t try to follow it. Just focus on what you’re working on. Just focus on the task at hand. In my case that’s writing. Your mind will naturally start to resonate with the beat. Remember this effect is called Frequency Following Response. The more focused you are on what you’re doing the more the beat guides you into that state of mind. Your state of mind is intense focus with no distraction.

You know what happens in this state of mind?

You get work done faster, period.

I used to always tell myself how much work I could get done if I just focused and stopped with the distractions. Well Binaural Beats and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Headphones help with that. Work that usually takes an hour plus can cut down to half.

How Long Should You Listen To Binaural Beats For?

Some people can only stand to listen to Binaural Beats for thirty minutes. Other people can listen to Binaural Beats for hours, so it depends.

The answer is listen to Binaural Beats for as long as you can stand to listen to it than stop.
